Prism-Aqueduct

For his experiments on light and colours,
Newton,
faced with the difficulty to fabricate one glass prism without defect,
chooses to construct a ' prismatic vase ' filled with water.
The water which fills such vase forms a volume optically similar to a glass block of the same dimensions.
To use water allows a considerable change of scale.
Well-known optic ownership such as refraction or the decomposition of white light is then obvious
with the same obviousness as the presence of a rainbow.

Prism-aqueduct can technically exist on a very big length :

A true aqueduct, on the scale of the landscape :
for a system of irrigation, a watering in a park, a garden. Making of the colour in the Prism-Aqueduct
Prism of water for different colours made of tears. Original : HD 1920x1080px, 2mn25s.

Water as an optical instrument, on the scale of the landscape

To make the colour of the daylight appear, water is my favouritematerial, the most simple, the most universal in time and space.

For my permanent works, I had to use glass: my plans using water alwayshaving failed because of the problem of maintenance of water.
So that water works as an optical instrument, it must stay clear, thenthe necessity of finding a place where problem is already solved.

- The treatment of water already exists: basin, reflecting pool, swimming pool, lavoir, moat...
- Or it is to be built by inserting a functionality: a system of irrigation, a watering in a park, a garden: a true aqueduct.
